Most of what gets written here is hard to find in one place: the Sinhala novel that shaped a generation sits in a different shop from the English-language memoir, which sits in a different shop again from the Tamil poetry collection. Maathra puts the island’s writing on one shelf, regardless of which of its languages it was written in.

Fiction, poetry, drama and memoir from Sri Lankan authors and publishers, in paperback, hardcover and ebook where available. We’re a small catalogue on purpose — every title on the shelf was put there deliberately, not to fill a category.
